The New Horning's Hideout Email List
New for this year, we are pulling together an email mailing list. In an effort to help get the word out about and support these incredible events we are lining up here at Horning's Hideout this summer!

We'll be using this list to broadcast show announcements, lineup changes when we get them, sellout status, and anything else related to Horning's that we think you should know about.
Get yourself on our list by giving us your email address and zipcode. The zipcode is optional, but it helps us to keep from sending you email you don't care about.

Don't worry, we won't give or sell your email address to anyone and you can get off this list at any time by signing up again - this removes your email address from our database, or you can just send an email to remove@horningshideout.com.

Here's the great part: When you reserve an area for your wedding, it's yours for the entire day from 9 AM till 9 AM the following day! We can do this because we have a camping option available for you.

Besides reserving the area for you all day long, we also offer wedding packages at a very reasonable price. A sample, basic package for an area includes 80 chairs, 10 tables with linens, two 10 x 20 canopies (that can be sided for dressing rooms), electrical power and an arbor. Besides offering you a very unique setting, we pride ourselves on having all the basics ready for you to make your day stress free and as wonderful as possible! For those who worry about going into the night as mentioned we also offer you camping for you and your guests. So with us, you, your family and friends can relax and spend your entire wedding day creating memories, decorating and personalizing the area to your liking and taste and make the area unique to you. U-Catch Rainbow Trout Fishing Near Portland Oregon has Never Been Better!
Hi folks, normally this time of year the lake would be boiling with trout, but we had some restocking issues, and currently for the first time in over 25 years we are closed for trout fishing. We basically ran out of fish! Hopefully in March we will be up and running, please check our phone messages or here for up dates. Below I will leave our normal posting up, just so when it's up and running you will know what it's like here. Thanks.

After all, this little gem is called Horning's Fishing and Picnicking Hideout! Where else can you go that is so close to Portland Oregon for rainbow trout fishing in a lake setting? Want the kids to have a great trout fishing experience and enjoy the great Oregon outdoors? Then we're the u-catch trout fishing place for you! Adults and children alike delight in catching glistening rainbow trout from our well-stocked lake and pond! Fishing is available year-round and no licenses are necessary at Horning's Hideout. We are also wheel chair assessable and have good gravel paths surrounding our 4 1/2 acre lake. We are open every day of the year except for Christmas and a few concert dates in the summer. Please check the concert calendar. Our hours of operations are from 8 AM to Dusk everyday!

Don't have a fishing pole or bait? No worries, we have them here to rent very cheaply, for poles and bait are just $.50 cents a piece. Fishing is $4.50 per pound, with most fish 1/2 to 1 pound a piece (11 to 14 inch fish). Sorry, but to preserve the health of our fish, we only permit fly fishermen to catch and release (when a fish takes a fly it's almost always right on the edge of the mouth, while with bait or lures they swallow the hook much deeper in their mouth or throat. This causes too much damage for most fish to survive). For Fly fishermen who wish to catch and release it's $7 an hour, from October thru June (in the summer it's too warm for fly fishing). Before you start please check with us to review our catch and release rules.

We also offer paddle boats on the water for those who want to have some fun paddling around the lake. For added fun they are all equipped with giant squirt guns! The paddle boats are $4 a half hour, $8 an hour. There is no fishing allowed from the boats, for the lines always get tangled in the paddles.

Disc Golf in Oregon has a new spot on Portland Oregon's West Side, with a total of Three 18 hole Disc Golf Courses (that's a total of 54 holes!)
Oregon now has Three 18 Hole Disc Golf Courses at one facility, right here at Horning's!! This is the most 18 Hole Disc Golf courses at any one spot west of the Mississippi River! For those unfamiliar with Disc Golf, the disc is much like a Frisbee, and the target is a basket devise equipped with hanging chains above the basket to knock the disc into the basket. It's a great sport, and the courses are challenging, fun for both the professional disc golfer, families and novices of all ages (see Jane Horning making her very first putt!). As in the rest of our park, we are open every day for Disc Golf!

The courses are through both fields and through the woods, making for a great scenic hike with lots of family fun. The newest course, Meadow Ridge, is a championship course, a full par 3, par 4 and par 5 course. The next course is the Canyon course, a full par 3 to par 4 course, and the final course is the Highland Course, a challenging pitch and putt course (short distance but accuracy really counts) which is great fun for families! The Highland course also has solar lights on both the tee pads and targets, so it's a permanent night course too! Discs are available at Horning's to rent or buy, and we do have glow in the dark discs. A full day of play comes with our general entrance fee of only $3 per person, making this a very affordable sport for even a large family! We also have 2009 season passes for disc golf. For the entire year they'll be going for $60, and as the year goes by they'll be pro-rated by the month.

For Company or Family Picnics We Have Portland Oregons Best Company or Family Picnic Site!!
Horning's Hideout is a hard place to match as a location to host your next company or family picnic, reunion, party, or gathering. There are picnic areas for both the small or large groups, so we can accommodate sizes from small family groups up to a couple thousand people for your company picnic!

Each of the large, reservable picnic areas feature an abundance of tables, a covered pavilion outfitted with barbeque pits, playgrounds for the children, horseshoe pits and lawns for volleyball and other field games. For reserved areas, gaming equipment is provided, so all you need to bring is you and your friends! And if you need a caterer, we have very good ones we can recommend. The lake is well stocked with trout for fishing fun for the kids, plus paddle boat fun (equipped with super soakers) for everyone. So come on out, play games, have a fishing or volleyball contest, or just soak up the scenic beauty and let us give you a perfect picnic day! Hours are from 8 AM till dusk everyday!

For Solitude & Camping We Have Portland Oregon's - Washington County's Best Campgrounds!
Horning's Hideout is truly a land of enchantment and has the best camping in the Portland - Washington County area. A land where you will find quiet relaxation in an uncrowded private country getaway. Unlike pulic campgrounds where one sometimes has concerns about ones neighboring campers, our private campground offers real piece of mind and the security that your neighboring campers will not disturb you. Quiet enough that in the morning you may find tracks a few yards off mapping where deer or elk have passed through in the night. Camping is available in this wonderful setting, with either tent of RV sites. Individual Tent camping is $15 a night up to 5 people, RV camping is $20, up to 5 people. Over 5 people or group camping is $4 per person.

Because we live in a heavily forested area during fire season the Forest Service does not allow camp fires (we wouldn't allow them anyway, we like green vs charcoal :-) ). Fire season is typically July through September, so please bring propane stoves to cook with.

Webmasters note; I saw my first hummingbird at Horning's Hideout. And just last weekend, I saw my first bald eagle happily making off with one of Horning's big ol' trout.

Festivals and Events
For those groups that want to hold a festival or large scale public or private event, the Hideout has a natural amphitheater with multiple a pavilions and a great big beautiful wooden stage made from lumber lovingly farmed from the property!
